Bupropion, known mostly on the market as Wellbutrin(TM) and Zyban(TM) is used extensively as antidepressant with US estimated sales of >$400 million in 2011, making it one of the most common antidepressants in the USA. Its mode of action is thought to be as an inhibitor of dopamine reuptake. It has also found use as an anti-obesity drug, for the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), to address neuropathic pain and for smoking cessation. The drug has also been used to treat substance dependency.
