Understanding Agile: An in-depth analysis of Agile success and its drivers

Info-Tech Research Group is the worlds fastest growing information technology research and advisory company, serving over 30,000 IT professionals. They produce unbiased and highly relevant IT research to help CIOs and IT leaders make strategic, timely and well informed decisions. Info-Tech's mission is to help IT leaders and their teams systematically improve their core processes and governance, and successfully implement critical technology projects. In recent years, Info-Tech has seen the demand for content on Agilea group of change-based software development methods and project processesgrow substantially. Today, Info-Tech members looking for Agile content are in the top 5% of all research downloads on their site. In order to improve their existing products and create new evidence-based toolkits and resources for their current and prospective clients, Info-Tech relies on published data and available primary research. However, there is little published research on the conditions for Agile success or what aspects of Agile are best in certain environments. To fill this gap in knowledge, Info-Tech has partnered with Humber College Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning. Working with Info-Tech, Humber faculty member Pedro Serrador and a team of students from Humbers Information Technology Solutionsprogram will design and conduct a large-scale survey and perform in depth analysis on the global use of Agile methods. The project will provide Info-Tech with much needed data, which they will then convert into a usable format for their clients: information about which Agile methodologies and techniques are most beneficial to organizations, when they work best, and how to implement them. This collaboration will not only provide an exceptional learning opportunity for students, but will also supply Info-Tech with the data needed to better support their existing members and to gain a competitive advantage over other research firms.
