Optical design of a low-cost community-sized novel concentrator

Energy storing system in the form of heat is several times cheaper then storing energy in electrical batteries. Thermal energy is going to be converted to mechanical/ electrical form by using Stirling engine. Innovative Solar System (ISP) approach will revolutionize electrical energy market in countries with big insolation. It will also allow low cost manufacturing energy in remote areas of Canada and USA. The objective of the present proposal is to design the best community-sized solar concentrator system with cost and simplicity as main target. Together, ISP and Professor Thibault team will design and optimise the new generation of multi-reflective solar concentrator for energy storing. The main challenge of this first phase is to develop a low cost and efficient approach for the optical system based on optimal first and third order optics.
