Chemically bonded anorthosite cements - exploratory research

In collaboration with UBCeram Group Hudson Resources Inc is assessing the potential of its anorthositedeposit to be used as a cementitious material with refractory properties, Chemically Bonded AnorthositeCements. These structural cements could be produced with nearly zero-CO2 emissions associated with itsproduction and exhibit chemical resistance to acidic and sulphate solutions. These potential properties andadvantages of the novel cements will be thoroughly studied, verified and tested in simulated field conditions.The research will focus on control of processing of the cements in order to achieve the desirable properties, andto control the kinetics of the chemical bonding reactions. The resulting ceramic monolith set cements targetmechanical properties comparable with Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) and significant structural integritywhen exposed to temperatures in excess of 1400°C.
