The impact of co-contaminants in sulfolane bioremediation

Advisian (WorleyParsons Group) is a global consulting company which provides deep domain expertise andadvice to clients in the hydrocarbons, infrastructure, minerals and metals and chemicals sectors. Advisian iscurrently supporting several energy companies in responding to the Alberta Energy Regulator's requirements toactively remediate sulfolane-impacted groundwater and soil at hydrocarbon processing facilities in theprovince. This immediate issue has led to recognition of a longer term need to understand the role ofco-contaminants in sulfolane biodegradation. Since the University of Calgary group led by C.H. Langford hasmade major contributions to knowledge of sulfolane remediation, we are seeking to develop collaboration withthem to jointly develop the knowledge base on co-contaminant effects.
