With the recent advances of wireless communication and vehicular networking, we are witnessing a growing interest into V2X based applications, in which vehicles are basically connected to everything (V2X). However, the design of such V2X applications still remains a fundamental and open research problem since there are no corresponding general and broad principles for designing content delivery through vehicular networks, posing numerous open new sets of challenges. In this project, we focus on the opportunistic content delivery for enabling the next generation of vehicular network applications, such as Emergency and Natural Disaster**Management, Social Networking, Real-Time Audio/Video Communication, Content Sharing, Social or Hybrid TV, Video-on-Demand, Free Flowing Traffic, Cooperative Collision Avoidance, Driverless Vehicles, and Platooning. The envisioned safety and infotainment applications will require the delivery of multimedia content, such as images, photos, audio, and video, well beyond text message warnings. These scenarios and the stringent requirements of the multimedia type vehicular applications pose a great challenge to vehicular network protocols, which must deal with the transportation and delivery of an extremely large amount of multimedia data through V2X communication. Our goal therefore consists of designing a novel suite of protocols for opportunistic content delivery solution for V2X based applications vehicular networks. We shall validate and evaluate the performance of our proposed solutions using both analytical and simulation methods. We also plan to design a real testbed using the infrastructure we have in our research laboratory. We believe the technologies and prototype platform proposed in the OpContent will act as an incubator for various future research projects and applications of V2X. Our objective is to build a continuing research nucleus around V2X for content delivery and information centric related services and applications.**
