Electric and hybrid electric aircraft can enable significant reduction in fuel consumption, maintenance cost and noise. Over the past years, all around the globe, various projects were initiated with electric propulsion in mind. Since battery energy density is significantly lower than fuel, hybrid-electric propulsion is an intermediate step toward full electrification and can still result in significant benefits. This short term research proposal is a first step toward understanding the technology. It is proposed to study hybrid thermal-electric propulsion by creating a simulation model of a real test rig that will be designed and assembled by P&WC.******
