Camosun College is entering into its first applied research partnership with MarineLabs Data Systems Inc., a company developing and deploying advanced ocean and freshwater buoys.****MarineLabs is developing a compact, rugged, cloud-connected, ocean measurement buoy. Using fleets of these buoys, MarineLabs aims to provide real-time oceanographic data to improve safety and optimize operations for public and private marine operators. Although MarineLabs has completed design/prototype/testing of a set of beta products using low-production run techniques, the connection between their microcontroller, sensors, power systems and the frame/housing that contains them needs revision to enable smooth scalability up to larger production runs, improved reliability, robust vibration tolerance, and expandability to accommodate the addition of a variety of new sensors as future market opportunities present themselves.**
