Ultra-High Performance Concretes (UHPC) is a new class of cement composites that are emerging worldwide thanks to their outstanding mechanical properties. The use of UHPC in Timber-Concrete Composite (TCC) is today unexplored appears particularly promising as the UHPC slab is endowed with high Young modulus , which increases the structural stiffness, and compressive strength, which increases maximum load bearing capacity of the structures. Moreover, the reduced thickness of the UHPC slab allows further reducing the floor thickness with important market gain. Finally, with respect to a conventional concrete floor, such timber-UHPC floor with reduced thickness, material saving and less impact to the global CO2 emission. ****This NSERC Engage research aims at developing new solutions for lightweight and eco-friendly floor system made of UHPC and timber, which can take fully advantage of the high compressive strength of and the high E-modulus of UHPC slabs. ****In the current context of fight to climate changes and strong growth of the metropolitan areas, the development of optimized lightweight and eco-friendly floors for multi-storey buildings is critical for the future of Canada. Considering the residential floors of new multi-storey building in Canada, the potential market for timber-UHPC is outstanding. This research will foster the optimization of timber-UHPC floor towards sustainable composite structure for future multi-storey buildings in Canada.****
