英文摘要
The proposed Canada Research Chair will develop and apply innovations in microfluidics to advance renewable energy and mitigate the negative impacts of current energy practices. To advance renewables, we will enable solar energy conversion of CO2 into products via photosynthesis and photocatalysis. For current energy practices, microfluidics will provide a window into otherwise opaque underground processes, focusing on emerging CO2 storage strategies and the unconventional oil and gas processes that are reshaping global energy. This two-pronged approach advances renewables for the long-term, and addresses the realities of our fossil fuel dependence for the near-term.
