Well-aligned CuSbS2single crystalline nanowires array has been prepared via a solvothermal synthetic route. The as-prepared CuSbS2nanowires are uniform with a growth direction perpendicular to the (101) planes. Porous anodic aluminum oxide was used as a morphology directing template and was found to play a significant role for the formation of single crystalline CuSbS2nanowires. Thin film prepared from CuSbS2nanowires displayed an obvious photoelectric response, suggesting its potential application as a low cost solar absorber material. A possible formation mechanism for the single crystalline CuSbS2nanowires array is proposed. The structure, morphology, composition and optical absorption properties of the as-prepared CuSbS2nanowires were characterized using X-ray powder diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry and UV–Vis spectrophotometry.
