U.S.-Asia Conference on Engineering for Mitigating Natural Hazards Damage

关于“减轻自然灾害损害的工程”的美国-亚洲会议将于1987年12月14日至18日在泰国曼谷举行。召开这次会议的目的是为美国和几个亚洲国家之间在这一研究和专业实践领域的信息交流、讨论和经验分享提供一个开放的论坛；确定共同感兴趣的问题和合作研究的领域。虽然自然灾害的类型很多，但会议的重点将集中在：极端大风、洪水、干旱、地震和各种地面故障。该计划将包括主题演讲、专题讲座、论文、小组讨论和实地考察。会议记录和最后报告将在国际上出版和传播。

A U.S.-Asia Conference on "Engineering for Mitigating Natural Hazards Damage" will be held in BAngkok, Thailand, on December 14-18, 1987. The purpose for convening this meeting is to provide an open forum for intensive exchange of information, discussions, and sharing experiences in this field of research and professional practice between the U.S. and several Asian countries; and to identify problems of mutual interest and areas for cooperative research. Although there are many types of natural hazards, the focus of the conference will be on: extreme winds, floods, draughts, earthquakes, and various ground failures. The program will include the presentation of keynote speeches, special lectures, papers, panel discussions, and a field trip. The proceedings and a final report will be published and disseminated internationally.
