The University of Nebraska @ Lincoln/W.I.S.E. (Women in Science and Engineering) Project will initiate a three-week, summer residential/academic year Young Scholars Early Alert Initiative project in Physics of the Earth's Environment which will provide science enrichment activities for 90 precollege rural girls entering grades 7-9. Project activities include: scientific method and philosophy; basic physics principles; physics as demonstrated through environmental research projects in aerospace, ecology/garbology, energy and hydrology; use of computers in science; and mentoring during the school year via an electronic network.
