A Paleomagnetic Study of Middle Paleozoic to Lower Triassic Units in Guangxi, South China

为了更好地确定华南地块古生代的视极漂移路径，本研究将对广西西部的火山岩和碳酸盐岩互层沉积岩进行古地磁分析。先前的冈瓦纳大陆华南地块的裂谷模型将裂谷事件置于泥盆纪，但初步的新数据表明，裂谷事件可能开始得更早。研究结果对古生代的板块重建具有重要意义，并将大大提高我们对该地区构造演化的认识。

This study will obtain samples paleomagnetic analysis from interbedded volcanic and carbonate sedimentary rocks in western Guangxi Province, southern China, in order to better define the Apparent Polar Wander Path for the South China block during the Paleozoic. Previous models for the rifting of the South China block from Gondwanaland place the rifting event in the Devonian, but preliminary new data suggest it may have begun much earlier. The results of this study will be important for plate reconstructions for the Paleozoic and will greatly improve our understanding of the tectonic evolution of this region.
