This planning grant will (1) assess the professional development needs of the teachers; (2) review the learning resources currently available; (3 ) identify professional and scientific resources and organizations; (4) develop a guiding plan for high school SMT reform; (5) develop systems for selection of purchase and distribution of SMT instructional materials, kits, etc.; (6) develop database for resources and partners; and (7) devise evaluation plans for monitoring and documentation. In addition, the planning grant would allow the DC initiative to identify talented professionals for the initiative.
