Abstract DMS-0506503KatzarkovThe conference Algebraic Geometry, Symplectic Geometry and Physics, to be held on December 15 - 20, 2004 at University of Miami will be focused on the following topics: 1) Understanding Kontsevich's approach for computing Gromov Witteninvariants from Fukaya category. 2) Understanding Homological Mirror Symmetry for manifolds of general type. 3) Trying to extend Hori's and Vafa's approach of constructing Landau Ginzburg model to the case of generalized symplectic manifolds.The conference will stimulate new lines of interaction between algebraic geometry, symplectic geometry and string theory. It will stimulate further collaboration between mathematics community and physics community in general as well as the collaboration between University of Miami and FIU. The activities in the conference will help to prepare graduate students and postdocs in their research in these fields.
