Protest hybrids. On the relevance of fun and hedonistic motives at protest events and the resulting tensions

过去几年发生的事件给人的印象是，政治、经济和社会决策者目前面临着“来自各地的骚乱”。与经常表达的科学分析和新闻观点相反，抗议活动的参与者几乎总是（也）有乐趣。在传统的、强烈制度化的社会运动的抗议事件中，可以观察到越来越多的娱乐和快乐取向的重要性。通过组织者和参与者的期望和动机，在活动的准备和交流中都包含了乐趣和欢乐。另一方面，新的抗议形式正在被年轻的、高度活跃的运动所测试和宣传，对这些运动来说，乐趣是重要的——有时甚至是核心的——部分。在这个研究项目中，抗议活动的混合——传统和绝对严肃的政治事件与有趣元素的混合——特别是由此产生的紧张局势进行了调查。

The current events of the past years leads to the impression that political, economic and social decision-makers are currently confronted with 'riots from everywhere'. In contrary to frequently expressed scientific analysis and journalistic opinions the participants of protests nearly always (also) have fun. The significance of an increasing orientation on fun and pleasure can be observed in the protest events of traditional, strongly institutionalized social movements. Fun and joyfulness are included in the preparation and in the communication of events through the organising protagonists as well as in the expectations and motives of participants. On the other hand, new forms of protest are been tested and publicized by young, highly dynamic movements, to which fun is an important - sometimes even central - part of. In this research project the hybridization of protest - the blending of traditional and decidedly serious political events with fun elements - and in particular the resulting tensions are investigated.
