VD 18: Cataloguing and digitization of books published in the 18th century in the collection of the library ofthe Deutsches Museum (VD 18 project)

The library of the Deutsches Museum has a collection of about 8.300 books published in the 18th century. The literature primarily treats with technology, natural sciences and cameral sciences. The collection is focused on these subjects and is of an international importance. Very often the library holds the only item in Germany. In the first phase of the VD 18 project 370 titles should be catalogued on a national bibliographical level. Furthermore they should be digitized and enriched by structural data. In this way the important collection becomes more visible for the international research in the field of the history of science and technology. By the way this is also a contribution to a boundary transcending web portal of all the holdings of the Deutsches Museum as well as to the Central Index of Digitized Imprints (ZVDD), the German Digital Library and the Europeana.
