Integrability and scattering amplitudes in supersymmetric theories

The research plan focusses on central properties of supersymmetric theories and is placed at the cutting edge of theoretical physics, making use of some of the most recent conceptual and technical developments. In particular, the project concerns an exciting and completely new way of thinking about the integrability of maximally supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory and its relation to scattering amplitudes, with an eye to the application of this novel perspective to supergravity and string theory. A complementary theme of my proposal consists in studying the possible implications of the new mathematical tools of the supersymmetric realm to QCD amplitudes. The proposed investigation will provide substantial progress in our understanding of supersymmetric theories, in our ability to compute amplitudes and should also lead to major advances in understanding realistic theories and developing techniques for analysing particle-collider data.
