History of scaffolding and centring 1500-1850

早期现代时期（1500-1850年期间大量使用）的脚手架、中心、建筑相关的起重装置和支撑的历史鲜为人知，而过去几十年的研究已经成功地描绘了中世纪建筑现场实践的相当详细的图景，包括对图片记录的评估、建筑考古学和实验再现方法。目前的项目旨在填补中世纪和19世纪后期之间的知识空白。它的动机是相信对当代建筑实践和脚手架的全面了解可以大大有助于我们对幸存的历史建筑和建筑的理解，以及对现有结构的发现的解释。该项目的主要目标是出版已经存在的材料，但是，这必须通过一些详细的调查来完成。设想的最后出版物将以专著的形式出版。

The history of scaffolding, centering, construction-related lifting gear, and shoring during the Early Modern Period (here generously used for the time frame 1500-1850) is little known, whereas research during the past decades has already managed to draw a fairly detailed picture of medieval construction site practices, including evaluation of pictorial records, building archeology, and experimental re-enacting approaches. The current project aims at filling the knowledge gap between the Middle Ages and the late 19th century. It is motivated by the conviction that thorough knowledge of contemporary constructional practices and scaffolding can contribute substantially to our understanding of surviving historical architecture and constructions and to the interpretation of findings at existing structures. The primary goal of the project is the publication of already existing material, which, however, has to be completed by some detail investigations. The final publication envisaged will be in monographical book form.
