The proposed research delineates the development of a convergent approach providing a chemical equivalent for the enzymatic oxidation of aromatic compounds, relying on photoinduced activation of simple aromatic compounds. This strategy allows to access a new set of building blocks tailored for the synthesis of a myriad of biologically relevant target molecules that are difficult to obtain via other routes.
