Enhancements of the SIS Cartography and Geodata 07/2022-06/2025The Specialised Information Service Cartography and Geodata (SIS Maps) has been established at the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin (SBB) as part of the DFG funding programme „Specialised Information Services for Research“. The main emphasis is put on: the acquisition of hard-to-find cartographic materials in analogue and/or digital formats, the provision of digitised maps from the holdings of the library’s map department, the enhancement of the department’s own specialist databases and their enrichment with freely accessible publications or additional information as well as the intensive support of research projects by searching, acquiring and providing appropriate maps or geodata. The services target all disciplinesy that need cartographic materials for their research. In the third funding phase the services will be continued, specifically enriched and enhanced. On the international level, the direct exchange with members of the specialists community will promote and encourage the discussion of the basic definition of new specialist terms.
