项目摘要

本年度はまず、昨年度『美術史』に投稿した論文を査読者からの意見を踏まえ修正した。董其昌の作品に見られる古画の図様の借用に注目し、彼の実作と理論と古画鑑蔵の三者関係を論じた本論文は、『美術史』191号に掲載されることとなった。次の課題として、申請時に計画した通り、董其昌の北京滞在時の活動に関する研究に着手した。まず董其昌自身の残した文章を現存する題跋、文集、著録などによって収集し、精緻に編年する作業を行なった。特に、彼が進士に及第して以降の最初の10年間について、官職の異動や地方への出張に注目しながら年表を作成し、絵画に関係するものを抜き出して各時期の傾向を分析した。こうした基礎的作業をもとに、彼が初めて北京に赴いた際、江南とは異なる絵画観や作品群に触れ、そのことが彼の理論の形成にどのような作用を及ぼしたのかを考察した。あわせて、これまで彼の作品を観察して判明した情報（各作品の表現の特質、古画との関係、資料としての信頼性等）を、文献の編年から復元した理論形成の過程と照合することで、董其昌の初期における画業と理論の関係を段階的に検討した。また、彼の前世代から同世代にかけての絵画批評や、明末北京の状況に関する研究を広く読むことで、董其昌登場の前提となる明末の文化的環境について理解を深めた。この成果は『美術史論叢』38号に発表した。本年度は新型コロナウイルス感染症の影響で中国や台湾に渡航することは難しく、海外調査は断念せざるを得なかった。日本国内にある中国絵画にはジャンルの偏りがあるため、研究にとっては厳しい状況と言わざるを得ないが、国内で開催された展覧会には多く足を運ぶよう努めた。特に前後の時代の中国美術や、日本近世美術の展覧会は、いずれも本研究を東アジア美術史全体の中に位置づけることに役立つとともに、申請者の今後の研究の展開にとって有効なヒントを得る機会となった。
