本年度は、感染症の落ち着いた時期を中心に、国内の作品調査に取り組み始めた。主に源氏絵・歌仙絵と花鳥図および画論書に絞って調査した。対象作品は次の通り。平野美術館主催「聚錦　狩野派・土佐派の競演」展出品作品を中心に、同美術館に寄託されている個人所蔵の土佐派作品群の調査に従事した。その中で土佐光起「春夏秋鶉図」三幅対について、「中日新聞」上記展覧会関連コラムに作品紹介を執筆した。東京藝術大学附属図書館にて土佐光起の画論『本朝画法大伝』の調査を行なった。本書は翻刻が刊行されているが、実物を確認することで翻刻のみでは詳細がわからなかった空白部分や筆写の状況、紙質等について情報を得ることができた。国文学資料館にて「源氏物語団扇画帖」を調査した。かつて紹介した個人像の伝土佐光起「源氏物語画帖」と顔貌表現や画面構成などが近いとの指摘を受け、同一工房の作である可能性も含めて比較検討した。福岡市美術館にて土佐光起「源氏物語図屏風」・「紫式部図」・「磯千鳥図屏風」および個人所蔵作品１点を調査した。前二者は昨年度から継続中の光起による源氏絵図様と紫式部像の生成に関わる調査の一部である。「磯千鳥図屏風」はかつて光起の花鳥画の代表作のように考えられていたが、光起の他の作例と比べてやや画風が異なり、むしろ同時代の他派により近い作例のあることをご教示いただいた。個人宅にて土佐光起の歌仙絵をはじめ数点の関連作品を拝見した。光起の歌仙絵は全国に複数点が紹介されており、光起の画業が和歌と密接に関わっていたことを窺わせる。他、３件の調査先と予定を調整したが、調査の実施は令和5年度（2023）にずれ込んだ。
