项目摘要

本研究は、18世紀後半以降の山陰地方と山陽地方との間において、如何なる商品流通・経済活動があったのか、また中央市場との関わりの中でそれらが如何に変容したのかを明らかにするものである。主に木綿などの産物の輸送に注目し、①山陰・山陽の在地商人の史料や町村行政に関わる役人の史料を調査・収集・整理して陰陽間での商品流通・経済活動を明らかにし、②それらを三井文庫や現地に残る都市問屋に関する史料と組み合わせて陰陽と中央市場との取引関係の具体像を明らかにし、③陰陽・中央間の経済活動・流通活動の全体像を明らかにする。ここでは、④北前船など海運勢力の台頭による海上輸送の伸張や市場構造の変化のなかで、陸上輸送による陰陽連絡が如何に変化したのか、⑤近代における山陰・山陽の産業・経済活動の変化が近世の経済活動や陰陽連絡と如何に関連しているのか、などにも注意を払いつつ、近世後期の流通や地方経済の実態を明らかにしていくものである。令和4年度の上半期は新型コロナウイルス感染対策の影響で出張等を実施できなかったが、参考図書を購入するなどして資料調査の準備期間にあてた。下半期に島根県・岡山県での史料収集にむけた予備調査の出張を行った。主に松江歴史館、真庭市立中央図書館、津山郷土博物館で資料目録や郷土資料などの文献を調査し、当該地域の水上交通・陸上交通・河川交通に関する史資料について絞り込むことができた。また古書店で参考となりうる史資料も数店購入した。これらの成果は、本研究を進めていくための重要な基礎作業であり、次年度以降の史料調査と研究の方向を定めるものとなった。また、別の共同研究で進めていた山陰港町の研究と本研究で得られた参考文献や資料を組み合わせて、副次的に山陰港町の金融機関に関する基礎的研究の原稿を作成することもできた。

This study focuses on how commodity circulation and economic activities between Shanyin and Shanyang areas fell in the second half of the 18th century.
