鳥取県東部の遺跡から出土した、縄文時代～近世の木質遺物193点、および鳥取県湯梨浜町に所在する国指定重要文化財尾﨑家住宅（江戸時代）の主屋を構成する建築部材20点の樹種分析を行い、それらの樹種と用材傾向を明らかにした。遺跡出土木質遺物の器種は、工具、紡織具、運搬具、服飾具、建築部材、施設・土木材である。そのうち、工具、紡織具、服飾具については、ほぼ、これまで知られている用材の傾向通りの結果であった。一方で、建築部材、施設・土木材については、昨年度新たに明らかになった用材の傾向が改めて確認された。古代の掘立柱建物の柱材には、昨年度青谷横木遺跡のものについて、クリを中心に広葉樹の利用が目立つことを明らかにしたが、本年度は大桷遺跡、良田平田遺跡においてもクリを中心に広葉樹の利用が多くみとめられた。湯梨浜町尾﨑家住宅の建築部材については、昨年度の調査では、クリやシイノキ属、ミズメ、アスナロなどがみられたが、本年度の調査では、新たにケヤキやオニグルミの利用も確認された。施設・土木材については、昨年度青谷横木遺跡の縄文時代の杭にカヤが多く使われていることを明らかにしたが、本年度さらに同遺跡のものを調査し、やはりカヤが多く利用されていることが追認された。また、中世・近世の土木材については、これまでの傾向通りの結果が得られた。年代測定については、縄文時代および中・近世の土木材、古代の柱材の11点について、AMS法による放射性炭素年代測定を行い、これらの時代の絶対年代を概ね明らかにすることができた。
