2022年度は、本研究課題における最初の事例研究として、2022年11月に総選挙を実施したネパールでのインタビュー調査を実施し、調査結果を分析した。世界秩序に関わる各分野において、選挙を控えたネパール国内でどのような政策と認識が議論されていたか（あるいはされていなかったか）、またそれらの議論に中国がどのように関わり、選挙結果にどのような影響があったかを分析した。分析から明らかになったことは、5年前と比べて中国の存在感は確実に大きくなっていることが確認できた一方で、総選挙での議論と選挙結果に対しては中国の役割はほとんど見られず、ネパール国内政治の中心性、ネパールで党派を超えて重視される民主主義の概念と制度、インドの影響力の役割が甚大であることが明らかになった。この現実は、国際関係論において自由主義か権威主義かの二分法に陥りがちである世界秩序論に対する重要な視座を提供している。研究成果は、学会報告と社会発信の形で発表した。学会報告は「研究発表」参照。社会発信の主なものは以下の通り。"Interviews: 'Nepal careful about debt because of Sri Lanka'," The Kathmandu Post, 26 February 2023, https://kathmandupost.com/interviews/2023/02/26/nepal-careful-about-debt-because-of-sri-lanka.「中国　一帯一路が続く先に」Aeon リベラルアーツプログラム、https://aeonconnect.jp/liberal_arts/field/3/content/miwa_hirono1.また、一帯一路構想に関する編著(2021年2月刊行)の研究成果に関する英語版の出版準備も進めた。本編著内では、本研究につながる実証研究をおこなっただけでなく、中国のさまざまなアクターや途上国の視点から中国の世界秩序への影響を分析するアプローチを採用しており、本研究で行う実地調査に向けた学術的土壌を形成している。
