N-Heterocyclic carbenes (NHC) of the imidazolin-2-ylidene-type will be employed for the preparation of carbene-phosphinidene adducts (NHC)PSiMe3 and (NHC)PH and of analogous arsenic, antimony, and bismuth compounds. With these starting materials at hand, heteroleptic and heterobinuclear dicarbene-dielement complexes (NHC)EE‘(NHC’) (E = P, As, Sb; E‘ = element from main groups 3–5) will be synthesized and their reactivity will be studied.
