Anionic boron-functionalized N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHC) will be synthesized, which carry their negative charge as an intramolecularly bound, weakly coordinating fluoroborate anion (WCA). These WCA-NHC systems will be used for the synthesis of unusual main group and transition metal complexes and will be applied as ancillary ligands in homogeneous catalysis.
