Monophosphane and diphosphane ligands are synthesized by functionalization of cycloheptatrienyl-cyclopentadienyl sandwich complexes of the metals titanium, zirconium, hafnium, vanadium and chromium and used for the preparation of heterobimetallic transition metal complexes. First, palladium and platinum complexes and their ability to form intramolecular metal-metal interactions are studied. Based on palladium-catalyzed reactions, the potential of the phosphane ligands to serve as ancillary ligands in homogeneous catalysis such as Suzuki-Miyaura and Buchwald-Hartwig coupling will be investigated. It is an important goal to establish an alternative ligand family to the ubiquitous ferrocene-based phosphane ligands.
