项目摘要

今年度は、アメリカ・ニューヨーク大都市圏において2回にわたる現地調査を実施した。まずは韓人移住者を主な調査対象とし、近年のニューヨーク大都市圏における韓人の移住行動（居住地選択およびキャリア形成）と子弟教育の様相について把握した。調査では、韓国学校（韓国政府の支援を受けている週末型補修校）2校、放課後学習塾2カ所を中心に、教師と父兄対するアンケート調査と半構造化インタビュー調査を実施した。現時点で明らかになったこととして、まず、同じ韓人移住者であっても移住の動機によって永住（予定）者か駐在員かに分類することができ、両者は移住先での居住地や教育方針、子供の通学圏、そして親のコミュニティが大きく異なる一方で、トランスナショナルな価値観と人的ネットワークをもとに子弟教育に取り組んでいる点では共通していることが明らかになった。現地調査は2023年度も継続する予定であるが、上記の調査結果は速報として、2023年3月に学会報告を行っている。また、ニューヨークにおける日本人移住者、およびニューヨーク以外の研究対象地域に居住する日本人・韓人移住者に対する現地調査の準備も進められた。具体的には、主に文献調査をもとに現状を確認しており、今年度を予定している現地調査に向けて準備も進めている。ただし、コロナ禍や企業間関係の変化により、地方都市における韓人移住者の状況に影響が生じていることも把握できたため、当初の研究計画を踏まえた上で、研究対象地域をダラス市からより適切な地域に再設定することも考慮している。
