The sub-project is devoted to the subjects of power and Herrschaft in late medieval and early modern images (with a special focus on secular wall paintings) as well as heraldic representations (including heraldic connoted pictures, objects, performative acts and architectonical structures). The sub-project thereby focusses on elites who participate in (house-related) discourses on Herrschaft and order with images and heraldic ensembles, and who at the same time attempt to locate themselves within their own social fabric.
