Digitalization of the catalogues of the Saxon State Archives

The project encompasses the digitization of the catalogues of 75 record groups belonging to the departments Hauptstaatsarchiv Dresden, Staatsarchiv Leipzig, and Staatsarchiv Chemnitz. These are among the most frequently used record groups of the Saxon State Archives. Covering the period from the 12th to the 20th century, they are fundamental to research on political, administrative, economic and military history, be it in the context of Saxony or Germany as a whole. The planned measures complement previous digitization projects and/or serve as a prerequisite to further description of record groups. The aim of the project is the online publication of the archival catalogs on the homepage of the Saxon State Archives (www.archiv.sachsen.de) and in the national Archivportal-D (www.archivportal-d.de/), making this archival material better available for scientific and non-scientific users.
