東南アジア地域、特にカンボジアにおいて、研究費採択以前より小児の口腔内診査や歯科保健指導の実施に関するフィールドワークを実践してきた。これを継続、発展させ、現地のニーズに即した歯科保健教育を開発し、それらの普及を目指す研究を展開している。一方、今回の課題が採択された令和元年度より、新型コロナウイルスの世界的な感染拡大のため、国外に出向いての研究実施ができない状態が続き、研究の実施が遅れていた。令和4年度には久しぶりの現地調査に渡航することができ、コロナ禍でのロックダウンを経た後として、カンボジアにおいて小児の口腔内診査等のフィールドワークを実施した。また、コロナ禍における教育や歯科保健行動の状況についての聞き取り調査等も実施した。令和5年度まで研究期間を延長し、これらの結果をまとめて、世界的な感染症流行下における歯科保健教育について、さらに研究・検証を行い、成果の発表を続ける予定である。また、これまでに得た成果を元に論文作成を行い、昨年度Journal of Oral Scienceに投稿した学術論文が発行されたほか、The effect of improving oral health literacy among teachers on the oral health condition of primary schoolchildren in Cambodiaとしてまとめたものが、European Journal of Paediatric Dentistryに掲載された。これらの論文において、カンボジアの公立小学校における教員への3～5年にわたる歯科保健教育に関する研修会の実施と、同小学校児童の齲蝕の数や口腔衛生状態の改善について明らかにした。

This paper focuses on the implementation of dental health education seminars for teachers in public primary schools for 3 to 5 years, the number of caries among children in primary schools, and the improvement of oral hygiene.
