本研究の課題は、サイエンス型産業の国内外の技術・人的連関と特定集積地におけるイノベーションの創出効果を多角的に分析することである。今年度は、計画していた国内外の研究機関や主要集積地に対する現地調査についてはコロナ禍のために延期した。都市・産業集積におけるイノベーションの効果やハイテク人材の移動に関する研究論文のサーベイについては継続して進めるとともに、新聞・雑誌記事や技術レポートなどの資料収集などを重点的に実施した。産業集積に関する近年の動向については、イノベーションとの関係や経済成長における含意などの主要論点をまとめるとともに、現状のデータ分析について研究発表を行った。実証分析については、これまで進めてきた内容を継続するとともに、論文執筆の準備を進めた。具体的な内容としては、サイエンス型産業に属する特定技術領域のうち、半導体回路・制御技術に絞って、科学技術論文データと特許データの収集と整理を進めた。論文データとしては国内ではJSTのデータベースを活用し、海外ではIEEE（全米電気・電子学会）の公刊論文データベースを使用して、著者の属性や所属機関、技術的テーマなどによって分類を行った。また、著者の所属機関などから所在地の地理情報を付加し、論文数の国や地域別の分布や動向などの分析を進めた。特許データについても、出願人や著者の属性情報に対して所在地の情報をマッチングしてデータベースの作成を引き続き進めた。それらのデータベースを用いて、主要企業や研究開発機関の特許出願状況やその時系列分析を行った。
