(1) 一部の財の需要は「１」または「０」という二値特徴がある。その離散需要特性を考慮した先進国と発展途上国の貿易モデルを構築し、新貿易理論を発展させた。先進国の一部の財価格が発展途上国の財価格よりも安いという価格反転(price reversal)現象、発展途上国に輸出限定財を生産する企業(export only firms)の存在、企業の高い生産性の異質性は先進国の貿易による利益と発展途上国の損失を同時に拡大させる可能性など、多くの興味深い経済現象を解明できた。(2) > 東京都市圏における立地外部性と企業再配置の効果に関する定量分析を行った。企業は立地を決める際、自社の取引費用のみを考慮し取引先企業が支払う費用を無視する。そのため、立地に関して外部性が必然的に生じ、集積が不十分になっている。本研究は実際の取引ネットワークを用いて首都圏における立地外部性の規模を検証した。まず取引パターンを分類し、取引全体に占める立地外部性を発生する取引の割合は21％あることを発見した。次に対象企業を5％ランダムに（13社）選び，丸の内と渋谷の2地域に移転する場合に外部便益はそれぞれ中央値で総付加価値あたり1.92％，1.29％に及ぶことが明らかになった。(3) 産業間取引構造を通じたインフラ整備や災害の波及効果を理論的、実証的に分析した。特に災害リスクを低減するための交通インフラに対する最適投資が、地域間におけるリスクシェアリングからどのような影響を受けるかについて解析的な結果が得られた。(4) 自国市場効果の実証的検証のため、データベースを構築し、数量空間経済学・数量都市経済学の広範なサーベイを行った。また、特にデータに乏しい発展途上国における集積パターンの検出のためのデータ構築についての研究を進めた。
