项目摘要

本研究の目的は、社会科用副教材『世界の子ども』（全15巻、平凡社、1955-57年）について、貴重な一次資料である「吉田文書」（平凡社編集部の内部資料）を用いて当時の編集過程や所収作文内容の分析・考察を行い、①日本の民間教育運動である「生活綴方的教育方法」が持った国際的な広がりの具体相を明らかにすること、②子どもの「生活」における主体的な個別具体性と客観的な普遍性に同時に向き合う教育実践の可能性を追求すること、の２点である。採用２年度では、新たに「「子どもの世界史」研究会」を立ち上げ、2021年8月に第1回研究会（『東南アジア篇』）、11月に第2回研究会（『南欧篇』・イタリア）を開催（2022年5月に第3回研究会（『南米編』）を開催予定）し、報告者を募って『世界の子ども』各巻の本文内容と関連する吉田文書の検討・分析を行った。あわせて、関連する「吉田文書」のデジタル化作業を進めたほか、中性紙封筒に資料を入れ直して分類番号を付すことで歴史史料としての保管と分類・整理作業を進めた。また、「吉田文書」を保管していた故・吉田九洲穂氏は、戦後「自由大学」の一つ京都人文学園の第１期卒業生であり、後の『世界の子ども』編集に繋がるエスペラントの素養もそこで身につけたものであった。京都人文学園について、吉田氏と交流のあったK氏（第２期、エスペランチスト）とS氏（第１期、後に人文学園主事に就任）にそれぞれ複数回聞き取り調査を行うことで、京都人文学園と戦後の京都・関西におけるエスペラント運動との関わりや、従来の先行研究では明らかにされてこなかった京都人文学園の歴史とその意義について、考察を深めることができた。いずれも、学会報告や学会誌投稿という形の研究成果としては2022年度に持ち越しになってしまった（中途辞退のため2021年度が最終年度となった）が、研究を遂行する上で基礎的で重要な作業を着実に進めることができた。
