项目摘要

ヘレニズム後期からローマ帝政初期という政治的・社会的転換期における彫刻流派の諸相を考察することが本課題の目的だが、それには現地調査は欠かせない。しかしいまだコロナ禍の影響が続いていることもあり、2022年度は渡航先をイタリア一国に限定し、ミラノ、ローマにて古代彫刻の調査を行った。ミラノでは、長らく公開されていなかったトルロニア・コレクション所蔵のヘレニズム彫刻を実見することができた。またミラノ市立考古学博物館では、前1世紀におけるこの地域のローマ化とともに、それまで彫刻伝統の存在していなかった地域で、ローマと比較しても遜色ないレベルの作品が現れること、それは首都ローマの一級品と同じくギリシア人彫刻工房の作と思われることを確認した。一方、ミラノ出土の一連の葬祭浮彫にはローマと共通のモチーフが認められ、帝政初期のあいだに地元彫刻工房が徐々に発達し、中央の様式や図像を受け入れていったことを示している。さらに、別研究課題であるソンマ・ヴェスヴィアーナ遺跡調査で扱った彫像にヒントを得て、作品制作やコピー制作だけでなく、修復というプロセスにおいても地域・時代による差異があるかもしれないと考えた。そこで彫像の接合部分や再加工部分に着目して、ローマ国立博物館およびカピトリーニ博物館において、ローマで制作されたと思われる多数の作例を調査した。今後、ギリシアやトルコにおいて彫像の修復・再加工手法を調査することで、地域差を見出すことができるかどうか検討することにしたい。なお、同じ肖像タイプのコピーが地域によって異なる「適応」のプロセスを経る例に関しては、2021年度に出版した英語論文においても指摘していたが、2022年度出版の日本語論文においてはそれをさらに掘り下げて考察した。また古代彫刻工房における制作やコピーの技法についても、日本語論文を執筆・入稿した。
