The aim of the publication fund is to significantly increase the number of primary and quality controlled open access publications and to raise their share in the total number of publications of the Technische Universität Braunschweig. Therefore, the scientists are supported financially and consultatively during the publication process. In line with this and by offering individualized consulting and additional services, acceptance of open access is enhanced and researchers are encouraged to publish open access.For the university library of the TU Braunschweig the promotion of open access publishing is part of its strategic development and a contribution to the transition of academic publishing. Acquisition funds which are released by the transition from subscription to open access journals are redirected towards the publication fund. This is an important step in order to establish and stabilize the publication fund even after the DFG-funding period.The initial DFG funding will support the TU Braunschweig in their endeavor to design and implement central, efficient and reliable structures and transparent processes .A comprehensive publication service will be offered to the scientists due to the draw up of organizational, technical and legal frameworks. Consequently, the visibility of the research at the TU Braunschweig and the use and share of its results will increase, as well.
