项目摘要

黒田は、国史館台北分館において日中戦争下の法幣の送金についての資料を調査し、国立台湾博物館において18世紀の台湾におけるオランダ商人が残した現地物価資料について知見を得た。また中央研究院歴史語言研究所において漢籍データベースを利用し、歴代方志、歴代別集のデータベースから銭票や小額紙幣について情報を収集した。ことに銭票が遺失物として19世紀には中国全土において記録されていること、また14世紀元朝治下の中国において零細額面紙幣の消失が地方の交換に支障をもたらしていることを確認し、「新銭」「旧銭」などの語彙の使用例を知りえた。また貨幣使用事情の変化の背景について16世紀の中国東南沿岸での倭寇の活動状況などについて知見を得ることもできた。また台南の台湾歴史博物館を訪問し、17世紀前半のオランダの中国との商業権益をめぐる抗争の余波としての台湾占領という歴史的経緯について知見を得た。それらの知見を加えて中国の古代から近代にかけての貨幣通史を英語で執筆しつつある。人類の4分の１を統治した中華帝国の貨幣の在り方の特徴を探ることは、単に中国という個別の事例を明らかにするだけではなく、欧米での事例からもっぱら組み立てられてきた貨幣と市場の枠組みを再検討する意義をもつ。ことに同一政府の下での貨幣の多元的存在、貴金属通貨によらない通貨流通、政府紙幣と現地紙幣の異なる流通原理、などは既存の貨幣理解に変更をせまるものである。
