最終年度にあたる2年目は、引き続き、戦後日本の作曲家である武満徹のピアノ独奏曲を考察の軸として、その作曲技法と創作観のあいだの連関の解明に取り組んだ。採用時の研究計画では、国立国会図書館や日本近代音楽館といった国内施設で調査を行う予定であったが、COVID-19の感染拡大に伴い、大学付属図書館の現物貸借サービスや文献複写サービスを中心に資料収集に努めた。大きな成果として、武満の後期の創作観における「関係」や「自然」の概念の重要性を浮彫にしたことが挙げられる。本研究が主な考察対象に据えた後期のピアノ独奏曲はいずれもモティーフや旋律、あるいは調性的な響きを前景化させている。とりわけ最後のピアノ独奏曲となった《雨の樹 素描Ⅱ》に、こうした特徴は顕著であった。作曲家である近藤譲の時間論を参照するならば、こうした構成は次に生じる出来事に対する予測や期待を基盤とする、西洋音楽に特徴的なリニアな時間性を生むと考えられる。このように音と音との関係付けに基づく時間性を持った音楽を後期の武満は人と人、人と自然、さらには超自然的な次元との繋がりの象徴として捉えていた可能性が、言説分析によって詳らかにされた。第2年度目は武満の最初期のピアノ独奏曲である《遮られない休息》第1曲（1952）と同年に書かれたテクスト「オリヴィエ・メシアン」をめぐる考察にまで、研究を広げることもできた。これについては、日本音楽学会第71回全国大会で口頭発表を行い、意見交換を行った。最終年度は学会誌等での論文掲載には至らなかったが、前年度の研究成果と合わせ、博士学位論文を執筆した。学位論文は今後単著の出版というかたちで公表を予定しており、これをもって、今後の更なる武満研究および日本戦後音楽史をめぐる記述の進展に寄与できると考える。
