The coordination project of the second phase of the priority programme 1984 “ Hybrid and Multimodal Energy Systems: Systems Theory and Methods for the Transformation and Operation of Complex Networks” aims at establishing a collaboration framework to foster the cross-regional scientific exchange between members of the programme and the international research community devoted to the transformation of the energy sector. In the second phase, the coordination attempts to intensify and extend the collaboration efforts and by this contribute to the attainment of joint developments and findings aimed to ensure the efficiency, security and stability of the power system of tomorrow. To achieve this goal, several measures are taken:(i) Several workshops, meetings and schools are planned and coordinated to promote collaboration and knowledge exchange between the members of the programme.(ii) Several international researchers and experts are invited for collaboration and research stays in order to ensure that members of the programme have access to new methods and are continuously informed about the newest scientific trends at a global level.(iii) A test and integration platform for the joint testing and studying of methods, models, and algorithms developed within the programme is continuously developed, made available and maintained.(iv) Several external presentation measures are taken to ensure that the work and results of the priority programme are continuously made available for the pertinent research community. These measures include organizing special sessions on relevant conferences, applying for special issues on scientific journals and managing the contents of the programme’s webpage and YouTube channel.(v) Several gender equality measures are taken in order to set up gender-equal structures, make the work within the priority programme more family-friendly and support female and diverse researchers in advancing in their scientific career.(vi) IT-tools for internal collaboration are developed, made available and maintained.
