Within this Joint Sino-German Research Project we intend to collaborate with Professor Shi (from Fudan University) investigating metal-catalyzed activations of inert C-X bonds under mechanochemical conditions. Teaming up with this particular research group is important because synergistic effects can be foreseen. While Professor Shi is a worldwide highly respected colleague in the area of C-X bond activations (in particular, C-C and C-O linkages), we have expertise in catalytic chemistry under mechanochemical conditions (including C-H bond activations).Joining the Chinese and German forces in these fields is envisioned to result in new scientific discoveries as well as the promotion of young researchers by intercultural exchange. Accordingly, we consider communication and mobility of the participating investigators as key for the advance and success of the project, and we offer various measures to stimulate such scientific interactions.
