项目摘要

日本語終助詞の意味や用法を記述するための枠組みを発話行為・相互行為の観点を用いて策定し、その策定した枠組みを用いて、日本語共通語や福岡県久留米市方言の終助詞についての意味や用法の記述を行った。記述の方針として、まず文末表現が表しうる「意味」を先に規定し、その「意味」を表しうる文末表現にはどのようなものがあるかを探究するという「意味主導アプローチ (onomasiological approach)」を採用した。それに加えて、単語ではなく「構文」を基本的な意味の単位として認定する「構文主義」の観点を採用し、個々の文末表現が具体的な文脈に現れたときにどのような意味を持つかという、下位の構文の意味を中心として記述する方法を採用した。また、文末表現の持つ「意味」の内実として「行為」の概念を導入し、発話行為論や会話分析の概念を援用しつつ、日本語の文末表現の記述に利用するための枠組みを提示した。Searle による発話行為の5分類を、日本語の確認要求表現などの実例をもとに検討し、「表象型」「当為型」に大別した。世界のありさまを変化させる志向をもたない「表象型」は、Searle の「演述」(assertive)、「表出」(expressive) および「質問」(question) を包摂し、参与者間の情報のやりとりに関与する一方で、世界のありさまを変化させる志向をもつ「当為型」は「他者拘束」(directive)、「自己拘束」(commissive)、「宣言」(declaration) を含むものとし、これらの下位分類についてさらに詳細に議論した。この枠組みを用いて、日本語共通語の文末表現ヨ／ネ／ヨネ／ノダ／ダロウ／デハナイカ／カについて、意味の記述を行った。またその記述の枠組みを応用する試みとして、福岡県久留米市方言の終助詞タイ／バイ／ヤン／ネを取り上げ、それらの意味の記述を行った。
