インド密教における実践階梯の一つには、生起次第と究竟次第の二次第がある。この両次第はタントラ聖典やそれに属する流派によって異なっている。しかし、ヨーガタントラやヨーギニータントラを兼修する学匠も少なくなければ、特定の聖典の註釈に他の聖典や流派からの引用も度々見い出される。筆者は今までの研究活動において、ヘーヴァジュラ系を中心に両次第の解析を進め、そこに見られる術語や実践内容に聖典や流派を超えて重なり合う部分が見られることが判明し、それらには生起・究竟の両次第を一つに纏めた「五次第」という共通の理念に基づくことに気づかされた。そこで本研究は、顕密両修の著名な学匠の一人であるアドヴァヤヴァジュラが著したヘーヴァジュラ系の五次第である『ヘーヴァジュラークヒヤ』を中心となるテキストとして採り上げた。『ヘーヴァジュラークヒヤ』はその内容を区分する文言として「身区別次第」、「語区別次第」、「心区別次第」、「一切清浄次第」、「双入次第」が用いられ、金剛念誦などの術語も含め聖者流との共通したものであるため、ヘーヴァジュラ系と聖者流との影響関係が窺われ、流派を超えた視点でインド密教儀礼を研究するに相応しい文献である。これらを踏まえた上で、本年度は、『ヘーヴァジュラークヒヤ』の批判的な再校訂テキストを作成するとともにその訳注作業に取り掛かった。Dhihですでにトランスリテレーションテキストが発表されているが、写本の読みやチベット語訳との関りから問題点も多く、再校訂の必要がある。その他のヘーヴァジュラ系五次第『ヘーヴァジュラプラカーシャ』なども適宜参照しながら作業に従事した。ここで得られた成果によって、前述したようなヘーヴァジュラ系と聖者流との比較を中心とした流派を超えた視点での研究が可能となると思われる。
