2022年度は研究計画の初年度にあたるAllen Tate後期の詩作（The "Maimed Man" Trilogy）について、文献を収集・渉猟しつつ、論文の執筆へ向けて準備を進めた。計画当初は単発の論文として成果をまとめるつもりでいたが、作品考察と同時に歴史的な背景や理論的な枠組みについても調査を進めた結果、本研究全体を最終的に書籍としてまとめることを目標とすることに軌道修正した。2022年度の研究は後述する通り少し遅れているが、その成果は書籍のイントロダクションに組み込むべき内容として、2023年度以降ドラフトを執筆していくことになるだろう。具体的には、自身の幼少期にアフリカ系アメリカ人のリンチ死体を目撃したという経験を題材とした "The Swimmers"について、自伝的な作品と称される事実に反して、描かれるリンチが事実であるかどうかが疑わしく、テイトの作為が少なからず入り込んでいたことがわかった。とりわけ完成度の高い詩として評価されている本作にこのような事実が指摘されているのは、詩人テイトが詩作を通じて自己を、単に探求するだけでなく、美学的・文学的に構築・形成しようとしていたことの表れであるように思われる。この詩の主題のひとつが南部人としての人種差別への罪の意識であることに鑑みれば、テイトがアメリカを代表する批評家として掲げていた後期モダニズムのイデオロギーを詩作において実践し、それに成功していたことを示すだろう。テイトの詩には性的なニュアンスが乏しく、人種に対する意識とセクシュアリティの関係を子ども（時代）の表象に探るという本計画の核心にまでは届かないが、そこに至るまでに必要な20世紀半ばの文学的イデオロギーと書くという行為を通じて自己を構築・形成するという実践の間の連関を素描するのに適した議論になると考えている。
