项目摘要

本研究は、南奥海道地域(現福島県浜通り)の領主である相馬氏及び岩城氏を主な検討対象とし、戦国期における権力編成やその特質を追求することで、戦国期奥羽領主研究の枠組みを再構築することを目的とする。研究期間は３ヵ年である。１年目にあたる2022年度は、研究計画に従い、海東家文書をはじめとする相馬氏関係文書の資料調査に取り組んだ。相馬氏関係資料に関しては、海東家文書から新出の中世文書の写を７点、さらに相馬市内個人宅において自治体史未掲載の中世文書原本を見出した。これらの成果については、2023年度中に刊行される『相馬市史』通史編(原始・古代中世)・中世資料補遺編にて公表される。また、岩城氏に関しては、永禄～天正年間の当主である岩城親隆・常隆父子の発給文書の網羅的収集を試みた。特に常隆に関しては、東京大学史料編纂所における影写本調査によって、博士論文執筆時には見落としていた発給文書を補完し、現段階で判明する限りの発給文書の原本・写をほぼ確認することができた。この成果については、論文を学会誌へ投稿しており、2023年度中の掲載が決定している。一方、本研究の主目的である戦国期奥羽領主研究の枠組みの再構築に関しては、東北大学日本史研究室編『東北史講義』(筑摩書房、2023年3月)所収の拙稿において、その前提となる14・15世紀奥羽政治史を「一揆」を主軸に考察し、室町期の国人から戦国期の領域権力への変質を見通した。戦国期特有の「郡」の形成を見通したことは、戦国期奥羽領主を「郡主」で捉えようとする研究視角を補強するものになるだろう。ところで、本研究は中世史研究のみならず、研究フィールドである福島県浜通り＝原発事故被災地における歴史・文化継承も視野に入れている。この点については、共編著『大字誌両竹』第４号(蕃山房、2022年12月)を刊行し、近世絵図から沿岸部の歴史的景観の復元を行っている。
