本校では, 京都大学芦生研究林をフィールドに「環境論」を実践してきた。この「環境論」では, 生徒の議論を中心に行い, 異なる立場の意見を受けとめ, 各自の自然観の形成を目標としている。その結果, 議論により, 俯瞰的な視点の獲得や他者理解, 自己の考えを明確化など非常に有効であることが判明した。しかし, これまでは, 議論の場を設定するだけで, 議論中は感覚的な対応しかできていなかった。そこで, ビジネスの現場で活用化されているファシリテーション技術を用いて, 生徒間の議論の質的向上活性化の可能性を検証し, 有効であるならばマニュアルを作成することを本研究の目的とした。本研究は, 次の①～⑤の方法によって実施した。①ファシリテーター養成のための書籍による文献調査や養成講座で技術を修得した。②教育現場での生徒間の議論に対象を絞り, 議論の質の向上を目的とした, 教員のためのマニュアルを作成した。③「環境論」の議論において, 作成したマニュアルを用いて大学生によるマニュアルを用いたファシリテーションを実施した。④マニュアルを用いたファシリテーションを実施したグループと未実施のグループの議論を映像と音声で記録し, 特に思考の階層の構築化に焦点を絞って比較検証を行った。その結果, 思考の階層の構築化へのマニュアルによる効果に有意な差は見られなかった。その要因として,1)マニュアル以上に個々の大学生のファシリティ能力の差が大きく影響したと考えられる。特に, 議論の経験と階層的な思考力が重要であると思われる。2)ファシリテーション能力は, マニュアルによる即時的な育成は困難であり, 経験が必要である。今後の課題としては, ファシリテーターの能力とくに, 階層的な思考力がどのように育成されるのかを探り, その育成プログラムを作成することである。
