「研究目的」申請者は、日本画制作技術を発展させ、教育の場で活かすために、東京学芸大学の修士課程において、日本画教育研究を行っている。日本美術のあり方を生徒に知らせる教材として日本画制作をどう生かすか、また専門としない美術教師に啓蒙活動をどう行えばよいか、日本美術の歴史を大学院でもう一度認識し直した上で研究しようとした。「研究計画と方法」日本画で扱われる古典画材を調べ、その変遷をたどった。今年度は画材の生産現場へ数か所赴き、現場の情報を得た。しかし時代や地域により画材の扱いや技術の向上、変遷があるため、幅広い文献の比較や生産地での調査が必要である。また、画材を使ってどのような技術が継承されてきたのかを、文献を収集して調べた。日本画特有のさまざまな装飾技法(たらし込み、きり金等)について、生徒がわかるよう、様々な画材収集を行い、画材を使ったサンプル制作を行った。「研究成果」日本画の絵の具は、生来、自然から採った岩石、土や染料を精選、加工したものである(現在は人工のものが多い)。これを、膠を接着材とし、水で溶き伸ばして使用する。この方法は日本古来の物ではなく、大陸から伝播してきた素材を、日本の土壌や気候を利用し、編み出されてできたものである。したがって日本画制作、鑑賞を通して自国の文化と他国の文化との繋がり、あるいは相違性、類似性を見出させるのに好都合な授業課題となり得ることが確信できた。また旧来、日本の絵画が、生活空間にあった床の間や書院に「掛け軸」として掲げたり、屏風や襖絵として家具や住居の一部として存在していたことを生徒に知らせることにより、伝統的な日本文化を知るきっかけとなり、さらに伝統工芸との垣根がない点も、工芸授業に生かす可能性を含んでいると考えた。これらのことをふまえて、高等学校美術・工芸授業に日本美術を示す一助として日本画制作及び鑑賞教育を、来年度現場で行い、修士論文に記す。論文は製本して東京学芸大学付属図書館に保管され、閲覧公開されることになる。
