Aim of this project is to investigate Fluorine-Specific Interactions by means of the orthogonal gas-phase techniques ion mobility-mass spectrometry (IM-MS) and gas-phase infrared (IR) spectrosco-py. To do so, fluorinated amino acids are classified regarding their packing density in gas-phase clusters using IM-MS. In parallel, a combination of IM-MS and gas-phase IR spectroscopy will be used to investigate the aggregation behaviour of fluorinated peptides and proteins as well as the folding of perfluorinated carboxylic acids.
